ADDINGTON MARKETS. EASING IN BEEF CATTLE. Entries were smaller in the sheep tection and larger in the fat cattle at the Addington market. There was a good market for sheep and a weaker one for cattle. Store Sheep.—All classes sold well. Ewes were better by up to Is a head, also forward wethers and ewe lambs. The latter made to 32s 3d and forward wethers ranged from 22s to 23s s>d. Fat Lambs. —There was a slightly easier market, export competition not being so widespread. Fat Sheep.—An improved sale by op to Is a head. The entry was 1100 less than last week. Best wethers sold lit from 27s to 345; good, from 23s to 26s 6d; best ewes, from 22s to 275; prime medium-weight, from 18s to 235; export, from 14s to 17s. Fat Cattle. —A heavy entry of 550 head and a weakening in values by up to 20s a head. Best steers made from £lO to £l3 7s 6d; good, from £8 to £9 10s; inferior, £4 5s to £6 10s; best heifers, to £7 to £9; medium, £4 10s to £5 10s; best cows, £6 10s to £9 10s; medium, £4 to £5; best beef, 25s to 27s per 100 lb.; medium, 22s to •245. Fat Pigs.—Baconers were firmer and porkers cheaper. There was no export buying. Baconers made 47s 6d to £4. The average price per lb. was 5d to s id. Porkers made 28s to 41s 6d. The average price per lb. was ®id to 5Jd. Choppers, 30s to £3 18s 6d. IYIATAMATA HORBE FAIR. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held their Matamata horse fair yesterday, when a good entry of horses was offered to a large bench of buyers. Competition generally was slow, only good quality horses being keenly sought after. The hacks were mostly Inferior sorts and in most cases vendors’ reserves were not reached. The advertised line of young medium farm horses averaged £34. A 3-year bay colt sold by Mr S. Limmer realised £SO, while a 3-year bay Ally on account of the same vendor sold at £52 10s. Another 3-year gelding on account of Mr C. M. Peck made £44 10s. Lighter 3-year-olds sold from £3O to £37; two 7-year heavy draughts were passed at £49; 6 to 8-vear reliable medium draughts, £3B to £46; reliable aged horses, £3O to £3B; light draughts, £l9 fo £2B; other draught horses, £8 to £ls; best hacks, £7 to £9 10s; inferior sorts, £2 10s to £5. CLEARING SALE AT CLAUDELANDS. Messrs G. W. Vercoe and Company, Limited, report having held a clearing sale at Claudelands yesterday on account of Mr L. Belcher. The herd came forward in good condition and met with a ready sale from a large and representative bench of buyers. The usual farm sundries and implements sold on a par with rates which have been ruling at other clearing sales. The whole herd averaged £6 15s 6d. We quote:—Good quality young Jersey cows early calvers, £7 to £9 ss; good quality later calvers, £6 to £6 15s; backward cows, £4 10s to £5 15s; light farm horses, £l4 10s to £l6 10s; sows in pig, £2 to £3 ss; empty sows, 15s to 355; light porkers to 245; vveaners to ss. CLEARING SALE AT PUKEKURA. The Farmers’ Co-operative Auctioneering Company, Limited, report having held a clearing sale on account of Mr K. S. Brown, of Pukekura, on Thursday, when his herd of approximately 65 Jersey and Jersey cross cows were submitted to a fair attendance of buyers. The cattle came forward in good condition and competition for young early calvers was firm, prices being on a par with late sales, whilst later calvers were not keenly sought, and values failed to reach expectations. An exceptionally keen inquiry existed for cows in milk, and values were considerably in excess of recent sales. There was little interest shown in dairy heifers and in most instances bidding failed to reach the vendor’s reserves. We quote:—Jersey and Jersey cross cows, early calvers, £5 15s to £6 15s; other early calvers, £4 15s to £5 10s; Jersey and Jersey cross cows, later calvers, £3 5s to £4 10s, Jersey heifers, early calvers, £5 to £6; Holstein cows In milk. £6 5s to £6 15s; Jersey cows In milk (best), £6 17s 6d to £7 ss; other Jersey cows in milk, £5 10s to £5 15s, 6-year mare. £35.
