THIB MORNING’S WORK.. DIAMOND OVER COUNTRY. LE GRAND—ONE WHETU. A feature of work at Te Rapa this morning was the schooling trial over a round of the steeplechase country by the Trentham ’chaser Diamond, who with R. Smith up, gave an impressive exhibition. He handled his obstacles In polished fashion and looks in good order for his engagement in the Waikato Steeplechase to-morrow. I A smart effort over six furlongs ' was oredited to Le Grand and One Whetu who came home in 1.23. j Korero and Con F-uoco were associated over a mile being timed to run the full distance in 1.51, the first • half-mile occupying 53 l-ss. It was ■ a sound effort on the part of both horses and they should show up in engagements at the meeting. Jolly Beggar and Pukeko clocked 1.9 for five furlongs, Tradesman running a similar distance alone in 1.95. Horotju and Trouvaille took 1.9 1-5 and Pn**/'■ I.BJ.
