Golf Clubs open tournament were played this morning in ideal weather, the links being in great order. In the championship Mrs Jacobean (Auckland) defeated the present. tilleholder. Mrs E. L. Barker (Rotorun) at the 20m. while in the other semi—final Miss M. Stevens (North Shore) clefoaied Miss A. Urmond 2 and 1. In ihe Arikiapakapa Cup Mrs Mc— Donald (Te Awamutu) defeated Miss McCready, after conceding 10 strokes. 2 and .i and Mrs Hutchinson (Gisbome) defeaierl Mrs La Trobe Hill ‘2 up. The finals of both events will be played this afternoon.

Barker. of Botorua, had a close call against Mrs Foreman, of “‘ellington, who contested the issue to the 19th. In the afternoon Mrs Barker showed the ilnst glimpse of her true form since the opening 0! the tournament and decisively beat Bliss Green 5 up. ( At the conclusion oi the second round the semi—ilnalists warez—Miss M. Stevens and Miss A. Ormond and Mrs Jacobsen and Mrs Barker, who wiii play oil! in that order to decide the finalists to-morruw morning. in the{ two rounds of the Arlklku-pakapa Cup; the surviving players were Mrs )lu-l Donald (Te Awamutu).
