___..____ PUTARURU BRANCH. The president. Mr K. 5. Cox. preSidcti over a good attendanre at the May meeting of the Putaruru branch of the Farmers‘ Union. Tllt‘ newly formed M. John Ambul—ance asked the union to appoint. a representatiw of its general committee and also soliritell financial assistance—Mr E. D. White was appointed. \\'ith a view to increasing interest in the union meetings. Mr A. \Vatson suggested that debates should Ihe stoned on suitable themes. The matter will he, further :considered at. the June meeting. . A report from a special committee set. up to consider the programme and date of the. proposed field day was read and adopted. It recommended that (at in the. morning. at. 10.30 r-L.'m., a demonstration on a Jersey cow be given, to be followed by a competition in judging cows. This to take place at Mr P. J. lKerl's farm, Tirau Road: (lb) Dr. Marshall, veterinary surgeon. to give an address on the best method or throwing an animal for an operation; (0.) luncheon in 'be on the farm: (cl) in the afternoon \‘isit. as many farms .as possible and inspect stacks of ensll—age and crops 01' swedes; (6) date of the Field Day to be July 114.
