E The Waikato County “ Council i(Trafiic-Inspector n. Metcalfe) ~pro« ll‘ecded against Edward C. Linton (Te iAwamutu) for driving an overloaded ivehlcle on the Great South Road on nApril 6. Defendant, who had only grecenily started in business» with aniother carrier in Te Awamutu, was }fined 305 and costs. ' A plea of guilty was entered by George \V. Thacker. who was charged} {with driving a motor vehicle without jlights, and also for drivingr without a ldrivlng license. ' Commenting that driving without ilights was a dangerous practice His s\\‘urship fined defendant 505 and hosts, and on the other charge -he was 'nne-d 205 and costs. Thacker was lnllowed three weeks in which to pay. ' A charge or overloading on the Punui bridge on March 20 was pre-lim-red» against Thomas W. Langford, [of Auckland. Trame-Inspector Met'valfe said there were notices at each lend of the bridge and the driver 'should have known that he had no right to cross it with a weight in ex—cess of 4% tons. Defendant‘s vchicle [haul 6 ions 8 cwt on board when it \\'.is weighed. lie was ilncd £2 with costs. . \\'instone Daniell (Te Mawhai) for rlrivint‘r without a license was fined 15:1 with costs and for driving an un—iliccnsed vehicle was fined £2 with costs.
