TROUBLE OVER COPRA. POLICE WOUNDED BY MOB. ft LAME FOR THE ADMINISTRATION. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received May 20. 3 p.m.) NAIROBI. May 10. The Commission enquiring into the rioting at Zanzibar on February 8 announces that it is unable to exonerate the Administration and the Agricultural Department, owing to the methods of applying the law relating to the examination and export of copra. The Commission maintains that inadequate steps were taken to acquaint the wild mischief-making Arabs of the intentions of the law. and also failure to instruct them on methods of improving copra. It considers that firing by the police on the mob was justifiable. averting a possible massacre. The Commission advises the Government to watch closely and avoid similar outbreaks.
