UNFAVOURABLE FOR DUCK. SOME GOOD BAGS OF QUAIL. Weather conditions over the past few weeks have not been favourable for duck shootists. the fog in the mornings prohibiting shooting until a late hour. Moreover, the fine, clear days have resulted in birds flying high and congregating in large flights. Better sport has been enjoyed with pheasant and quail, several sportsmen In the Raglan and Pirongia districts obtaining good hags. One shootist in tin* Ngahinapouri area secured. In one day’s outing, a hag of eight quail, the best recorded this season. In the opinion of a Hamilton enthusiast boisterous weather over the weekend would be generally welcomed by duck shootists. as this would have the effect of breaking up the flights and keeping the birds down.
