RESIDENTS THREATENED. (Special to Times.) ■., „-. TEI AROHA, Tuesday. At 2.20 p.m. to-day the Fire Brigade answered a call to a Cre at the south-west corner of the borough endowment adjoining the main traffic bridge. Fed by high dry grass, blackberries and rushes the flames quicklv swept over to several residences neat Islington and Kenrick Streets. A bucket brigade was soon in action" and removed the danger from the residential area.

A large drain through the centre of the endowment prevented the fire from spreading to the properties on the south side, but within an hour and half fully 30 acres were swept.
