tlrau club. Competition bas been keen during the past season for the silver-mounted leather shield donated by Mr N. L. Higglnson, of Okoroire, ror local Inter-hotel competition. Recently Okoroire again challenged Putaruru for the shield, the match being played at Okoroire, but Putaruru once again won the match by 21 to 14. The teams were:—Putaruru: Eather, Barnes, Cook, Leggatt (s). Okoroire Jones, McLaren, Brown. Higglnsorr (s). The rules of this competition are that play is limited to the Putaruru, Tlrau and Okoroire hotels, and the proprietor or the hotel must skip his own team but may choose players from any club. Putaruru and Okoroire have played a number of matches during the season, and Tlrau has played once. The team winning the most matches during the year holds the shield until the following season, and so Putaruru hotel will hold the shield.
CAMBRIDGE CLUB
CONCLUDING COMPETITIONS. (Special to Times.) .CAMBRIDGE, Tuesday. Arter some delay the concluding games In several or the Cambridge Bowling Club’s competitions are now being completed. The No. 3 green was in excellent order on Saturday, when M. McNamara (handicap 2) defeated C. W. Hooker (handicap 6) by 29 points to 13. Last year’s winner of the McCathie Memorial Handicap was Dr. H. C. Tod. In the semi-final of the president’s pairs handicap B. Anderson and F. H. Wooldridge defeated A. Willis and W. R. Garrard by 22 points to 19. Anderson and Wooldridge will now meet W. Moore and J. C. Allan In t.hc final.
