ALFALFA JERSEYS.
NEXT WEEK’S SALE. The highlight of Waikato pedigree stock sales is always the annual offering of Alfalfa ' Jerseys, the property of Mr F. J. Saxby. Some outstanding Jerseys will be submitted at the sale next Tuesday, which will be held at the homestead. It is claimed that this year’s Alfalfa offering represents the greatest combination of quality, constitution and production and high testing ability ever offered in the Dominion. Comprising 33 two-year-old heifers and 25 bulls, the offering presents an exceptional opportunity to acquire some of the Dominion's greatest producing blood. The heifers are line bred to the sons of Waipiko Masterpiece, C. 8.8., the champion of champion butterfat bulls, whose daughters hold a world's record for butterfat production, and the Dominion’s best bred imported butterfat bull, Vive La France’s Last Son (Imported), from proved breeding matrons. The bulls are mostly by sons of Waipiko Masterpiece, C. 8.8., and Vive La France’s Last Son (Imported), and from some of the DoI minion’s best breeding matrons. | It is stated that the catalogue this * year is more representative of Alfalfa 1 breeding than has been possible at | previous sales, this being the first ‘ year that daughters of Alfalfa bred i bulls have been procurable to such an i extent. In most cases their dams have j also been procured at Alfalfa.
j Alfalfa has been the home of many j noted Jerseys and many noted producers, including six gold medallists, and outstanding breeding and show stock have passed through the Alfalfa sale ring. It is reported that the animals to be submitted to auction next Tuesday are fully up to the high Alfalfa standard.
