ENGLISH RAILWAYS.
NEW LINE OPENED. GREAT INCREASE IN TRAFFIC. (Official Wireless.) RUGBY, May 16. The Southern Railway brings into service to-morrow the new line between Wimbledon and Earlsfield, constructed as a 2200 ft. long “flyover” to obviate the ■ necessity for local trains crossing the path of the fast expresses in and out of Waterloo Station. The work, which was part of a scheme costing £500,000, lias been neccssilated by the great increase in traffic. The number of trains entering and leaving Waterloo daily has increased from about 1000 10 years ago to over 1200. The reorganisation included I lie wiring of over 70 miles or track for the new colour signalling system, wh'ch ning trains to be considerably shortened.
