The roar of avalanches from the north-east shoulder of Mount Everest was often audible on Sunday. The North Col is unsafe for perhaps two days. Slabs on the upper part of the mountain render it unciimbabie when covered with snow. A violent wind is tearing new snow from the mountain, giving hope of an early resumption. The advance party on the North Col Is comfortable, with plenty of food. MUD FROM ROTORUA. POSSIBILITIES IN ENGLAND. LONDON, May 18.
