WINTER MEETING.

WINDSOR LAD IMPRESSES. WOODFUL OVER HURDLES. MATORU AND SERGIA. The winter meeting of the Waipa Racing Club, at Te Awamutu, on Saturday, was one of the most successful fixtures staged by the club in post-war years, and the racing throughout was of a highly Interesting standard. Following recent rain the going was on the heavy side. The attendance was large and a substantial increase in totalisator investments was recorded. The principal event of the day was won impressively by Windsor Lad while the hurdles was to the credit of another outsider in Woodful. 0 ililee prevailed in the Woodstock Stakes while Te Rapa representatives in Matoru and Sergia won their respective engagements. In a good betting race the best supported were Huskie, Arctic Star and Count Roussilhon. Lucldus and Woodrul were first out and they led along the back the first time from Huskle, prince of Orange, Arctic Star and Count Roussillon, Kanapa having lost his rider at the second fence. There was no change in the order as the field came round to the stands, but along the back Lucldus and Woodrul were out 12 lengths in Trout of Huskie. Prince or Orange. Arctic Star and Count Rousslllion. Woodrul was showing out in front of Lucldus as they raced across the top. the pair being still six lengths clear of Huskle. Prince or Orange, Arctic Star and Count Rotissillion. Except that the field had begun to close up a little there was no change into the straight, hut once over the last fence Woodfull finished best to beat Lucldus by live lengths, with a similar distance to Arctic star, liuskfe. Bellbroney and Blackman, but Barograph was moving up rast and had gone through to the front by the time the top was reached, being In the van rrom Gay Sister. Bellbroney. Blackman, Queen Nona, and Full o’ Scotch. Sergia Joined Barograph Just before the straight was reached, and they were on terms rounding the turn from Blackman, Bellbroney. Gay Sister, Full o’ Scotch and Queen Nona. In the run to the Judge Sergia stayed on to win bv three-quarters or a lenght from Gay sister, who beat Full o’ Scotch by half a length. Queen Nona was fourth, and then followed Supremo Court. Bellbroney. Barograph, Blackman and Racette. Time, 1.47. The TotallsAtor. The totalisator handled £14.3410n the day. There was no corresponding meeting last year, but In 1934 the Investments reached £8792. WELL CONDUCTED. PUNCTUALITY OBSERVED. PROGRAMME RIGHT ON TIME. One or the most gratifying features of the Waipa Racing Club’s successful winter meeting at Te Awamutu on Saturday was the punctuality observed In the running of the programme and It is pleasing to record that the last race was run strictly to the advertised time. it was an example thai other country clubs could advisedly follow in the better consideration of their patrons.
