PUBLIC SCHOOLS

WAIKATO ASSOCIATION. FIRBT ANNUAL MEETING. * A decision to hold a monthly social evening was made at the first annual meeting of the Waikato branch of the English Public Schools’ Club (Auckland). The Waikato branch of the club was formed about seven months ago, when members from Auckland attended the meeting. It was thought by members that it would be in the interests of all to hold the annual meeting in May, despite the fact that the branch had been in existence only seven months. The committee reported that regular luncheons had beeij held on the first Thursday of each month and they had been well attended. Members of the club in Auckland had attended some/ of the functions. The cricket team had played seven matches, two of which they had won* The team had been assisted by Alderman, the English coach, in some of the games. Last Sunday a tournament had been played on the Lake golf links, and although rain interfered with the proceedings, the tournament was a success. In the bogey play tournament Mr and Mrs F. C. Roberts ran out the winners with a score of 2 down on bogey. it is hoped that some of the members will be able to participate in the annual golf tournament at Auckland on the King’s Birthday. The annual dinner is to be held on the evening before the King’s Birthday. The following were elected to the management committee of the branchi Messrs G. S. Hampton, C. R. Hunt, P. V. Williams and F. C. Roberts. Mr G. A. Acres was appointed secretary.
