INCREASED WITHDRAWAL. THE PRICES REVIEWED. I'nlted Press Assn.—Elec. Tel. Copyright. (Received May 16. 3.15 p.m.) LONDON. May 15rAt the wool sales 6909 hales were offered. Including 25 47 bales New Zealand, and 4909 bales were sold. There was a moderate selection, consisting largely of crossbreds, which WOT 6 lew keenly competed for. Buyers apparently are satisfied, consequently withdrawals increased all round. New Zealand scoured Merino, Avieimore. top price and average. 23d; sllpe halfbred lambs. Fielding, top price. 15}d, average, 14d. During the series. 83.900 bales were offered, of which 64,500 bales were sold. The Home trade bought 36,500 bales, the Continent 27,00 bales, and America 1000 bales. A total of 32,500 bales were not offered. The total sales were approximately:* Australian. 16.000 hales. New Zealand. 33,000 bales. The French election uncertainties resulted In the Continent practically withdrawing from the market at the opening sales. Prices thus yielded more than expected. Quality Merinos were five per cent lower than at the March sales, medium and inferior 5 to 7} per cent decline. Fine crossbreds declined 5 per cent, nn.l medium and coarse hardened and Closed at par.
