WOMEN’S AUXILIARY.
UNEMPLOYED WORKERB. Mrs Sanderson presided over the meeting of the Women’s Auxiliary of Unemployed Workers In Toorak Hall on Tuesday. Further donations to the benefit fund were received and the secretary was instructed to write a letter of thanks ; to Mr Andrews, of Wellington, for £l, and to the Dunedin branch of the National Unemployed Workers’ Movement for a donation of £2 12s. The Borough Council wrote to say that the matter of improvements to the rest room In Hamilton, and the ere-ction of a rest room In Frankton had been referred to the Works Committee for -report, and the Auxiliary would be advised later. The secretary was instructed to write to the Prime Minister and also to the Minister of Employment, pointing out that the new sustenance rates are Inadequate and insufficient, and demand that the Government put Into effect immediately the provisions for sustenance in the 1930 Act. Detailed information relative to the forming of a union for domestic workers was received from the secretary of a union in Auckland. The president and secretary were appointed to attend a meeting for this purpose when it takes place in Hamilton. Afternoon tea was served by Mesdames Renalff and Lineham.
