OPERATION AT SEA.
REMOVAL OF ULCER. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) AUCKLAND, Friday. While crossing tiie equator a surgical operation was performed on tlie Monterey by llie ship’s surgeon, Dr. F. A. Moore, on a steward, .Mr J. .McNamara. who collapsed suddenly as the result of a gastric ulcer, which threatened to cause peritonitis. The sea was very smootn at tiie time, and Ihe patient is expected lo be on his feet by the lime llie vessel reaches Sydney.
