JERSEY DISPERSAL.
PENCARROW STUD OFFERING. SALE NEXT WEDNESDAY. Next Wednesday Jersey breeders of the Dominion will have the unique opportunity of obtaining some of the famous Pencarrow blood when the complete dispersal of the Pencarrow Stud, prominent in the outstanding studs of the Dominion, will be held at the homestead, Tamahere. It is claimed that no stud has played a greater part in the development of the Jersey in this Dominion. Founded 5i years ago by the late Mr Cornelius Day, father of the present owner, Mr F. E. Day, the stud is the oldest in New Zealand. It is said that it Avas the execellence of the PencarroAv stock in the early days of the breed in the Dominion that, helped to [ overcome the prejudices against the | breed and to induce so many to change over to Jerseys. | In 1921 Mr Day secured the great | bull. Masterful, a prizewinning son of I Masterman of Oaklands. undefeated champion on the Island and sire of over 50 tested daughters. \A-hile at about the same time lie obtained Winning Post, a son of Xenia’s Sultan, unbeaten in live years' shoAving on Jersey Island and which sold for £7OOO and Avas a sire of 101 tested daughters. The stud was also strengthened by the purchase of Daisy M. O. (imp.), probably the greatest breeding cow in New Zealand. True type plus production is represented by the Pencarrow offering and breeders attending the sale will have the best stock in the Dominion from Avhich to choose.
