INQUIRY WANTED.
CONTROL OF DEPARTMENT. UNITY AMONG LABOUR GROUPS. AUCKLAND. Friday. A decision to request the Minister of Labour to institute an inquiry into the administration of the Labour Department at Auekland was received at a meeting •»f the Auckland Trades and La-hour Council. One complaint was that the Department collected money due to men in certain trades but did not. prosecute employers for alleged breaches of awards. Ways and means or bringing about greater unity among industrial Labour groups in the Dominion were discussed. It was decided to endorse a suggestion that the Trades and Labour Federation convene a conference with the object of inducing the principal sections of the industrial community to compose their differences ami form one national organisation. This would mean unifying Die two main sections, the Alliance of Labour and tlie Trades and Labour I'■< 1■ • 1 1 1 n.
