APPLICATION OF ACT. SHORTER HOURS IN SEPTEMBER. SOLICITORS' ASSISTANTS. (By Telegraph—Spams} to Times) \VELLINGTDN, Friday. The limitation of the working hours of shop assistants under the shops and Ufllces Amendment Bill will not come into force until September 1, accord—lng to an amendment introduced into the Bill by the Labour Bills cummittec, which reported the measure back to the House to—day. The other provisions will come into operation on Jul)’ 1. as provided for in the original Bill. The legislation brings solicitors‘ ofllces under the scope or the Act but the amendment made by the Committee provides for the employment of assistants in soliciturs‘ ol‘ilces in spec—lal circumstances after live o‘clock on week days and alter noun on Suturdays.
