ZEPPELIN HINDENBURG. PASSES OVER ENGLAND. LONDON. May 13. The Zeppelin Hindenburg, travelling at 87 mi'es an hour, passed over Southern England, and is expected to land at Frankfort at 5 a m. The Hindenburg is making a return trip from America to Germany. WHOLESALE POISONING. ADULTt, AND CHILDREN. TOKIO, May 13. Fifteen adults and 27 pupils are ooad and 1810 others have been poisoned through eating gift cakes at a sports meeting at the Hamanatsu School. The police are investigating reports that the poisoning was malicious. LONG CANOE .JOURNEY. ENGLAND TO AUSTRALIA. LONDON, May 13. Harold Fenn and a friend, Colin Sullivan, will shortly leave Deal, hugging the coasts for a distance of 35,000 miles, in an attempt to reach Australia in separate canoes 15ft. long and 3ft. wide. They are allowing 2J years for the voyage. They have already paddled from Frankfort to Belgium, from which country Fenn crossed to England. He is to be Joined later by Sullivan. NEW POLITICAL PARTM. THE FIRST PRESIDENT. WELLINGTON, Thursday. At the conference of the National Party to-day Sir George wi/ilson, of Auckland, was appointed first presij dent. In accepting office Sir George urged that the question of leadership be held in abeyance for the present, as to raise it now would possibly re* suit in bitterness. TRANSPORT PROPOSALS. WELLINGTON, Thursday. A well-attended conference of transport operators met under the presidency of Mr D. Bauchop. The Hon. R.
