NAILS AND RAZOR ILADIO. i A EUROPEAN “YOGA." i . LONDON. April 24. During an operation in the Calcutta Medial College Hospital the follow in; Articles were removed from Mr E. J. H. Drummond, of. Waterford, Irelend. a former non-commissioned officer in the Innhkilling Fusiliers:— 84 razor blades, 115 4in. nails, 118 Zin. nnill, broken glass. several hundred gramophone needles, metal filings. The total weight was 101 b., and Mr Drummond is to-day recovering after what is described as the most dangerous operation ever performed in India. Under the professional name of Chamison he has toured the country for years giving demonstrations of swallowing such things as nails, glass and poisons. He claims that his immunity from injury has been due to secrets learned while studying Yoga, the mystical cult of Indian asoetics. Doctor Astounded. The operation followed an accident during a performance at Patna and lasted for six hours. Dr. Panchanan Uhatterji told me he was astounded at the man‘s recovery. Mr Drummond told me that after he left the Army he met a Yogi (a devotee of Yoga) in a train, and learned breathing concentration and the secret of using herbs enabling him to give amazing performances and to baffle the medical nrofession. _

He refused to reveal his method, but insisted that anybody with patience to study Yoga could accomplish many things impossible to the layman.
