Blackburn (Independent Labour) urged the Government to ratify the reciprocal old—age pension agreement at“ 1918. which was ratified that year by the New Zealand Government. He pointed out that the present New Zenlnnd Government, when in opposition, was extremely anxious that the agreement should be ratified. It provides for residence for a period of years in either place being taken into acruunt when claiming a pension,
The Treasurer, .\lr J. Casey, later indicated that there was not a hope of the agreement bclng ratified owing to 11m Huuncial burden likely to be involved. 777* 7 ,
