LAMBS CHEAPER

VALUES AT FRANKTON. WEAK DEMAND FOR BEEF. HIGH PRICE FOR BACONE‘RS. All classes were forward in heavy numbers at the weekly stock sale at the Frankton yards yesterday and average benches of buyers operated in all departments. Little alteration was effected in late quotations. although price changes were mainly in favour of buyers. Ox was in larger supply than last week and comprised mostly light to medium sorts. Prices per head ranged to £9 10s for the more attractive sorts with lighter entries bring—ing from £8 to £9. Some heavy entries were penned in the cow and heirer beef section. and these met the market at prices ranging from £6 to £6 95. A steady sale was accorded lighter sorts, while a heavy eniry of boners met an even sale. Calves were forward in full average numbers and ‘sold under good competition at prices .on a par with those of the previous lweek. ‘ ‘ Sheep and Pigs. ‘ Export buyers and butchers were offered any amount of scope in the sheep pens and competition came freely. Prime wethers and ewes were: bright of sale and were traded at sub- I stentially the same values as last Tuesday. Lambs did not command the same values as last week and. as at the Morrinsville sale last Friday. there was an easing tendency throughout. The unflnished quality of many of the entries was one factor affecting the market and vendors suffered by failing to finish off their stock. In consequence of a drop in schedule prices of id it was only to be ex—pected that competition would be slacker for porkers. Many unfinish—ed pigs were included in the offering. but despite this, little alteration in values was noted. Beconers were again sharp of sale and the best price this season, 685, was recorded for one entry. Prloo Summary. The following table is a summary of prices realised for fat eta-ck at the Frankton yards during the last fortnight:——- I
