The Shops and Offices Amendment Bill, which was introduCCd by the Governor—General‘s Message in the House of Representatives this afternoon provides for a «34-hour week in lieu of 48 hours as at present, and eighthours per day, except on one day when employment may be for 11 hours, and not more than 4% hours continuously without an interxal of one hour for a meal. A clause extends the application of the Act to solicitors, mlnlng companies, and miners‘ union offices. These omces are at present excluded from the provisions of the Act.
