In announcing at a meeting of the Te Awamutu Borough Council last. e\'enin3. that negotiations were being made for unemployed labour for work an the Te Awamutu saleyards the Mayor, Mr (L Splnley. said it was proposed to engage the present gang at the conclusion of their work on the water supply mitchment area. Mr .L (I. Aluntetlm‘e thought the council should pay the gang at the rate a! 11‘s per «lay. The Unemployment. Board should be notified of this intention, which would show that the rouncll was in accord with the ini—pi‘med basis of wages. The gang was a good one and although the. council would be paying more they would not. be trying to take advantage of the board's subsidy. Agreement with the previous speaker's remarks was expressed by Mr A. Brown. __—————.______.
