TE RAPA TRACKS.

PREPARATION FOR WAIPA. P A R Q UET —MAN GU'K AHA. WINDSOR LAD IMPRESSES. (By “Martian.”) The course proper, well out from the rails, was in comparatively good order for galloping at Te Rapa this morning and several useful efforts were recorded by candidates with engagements at the approaching Waipa meeting. An interesting feature of the morning’s work was the schooling essays over hurdles and the steeplechase country. The first to work were Parquet (Bowden) and Mangukaha (Day) who came home from the six furlong barrier in 1.205. the first three furlongs in 39$s. This was the best effort of the morning over the distance and both impressed by the manner in which they were sticking to their work at the completion of the effort. Over A Round. Racette (Winder), Sirona (Campbell) and Racewhip (Glading) finished in a bunch at the completion of a circuit encompassed in 2.11, the first five furlongs in 1.13 4-5. Dust Up (Mathers) brushed home from the three furlong peg in 40s. Respectful (A. P. Brady) and Kurakaha (Day) were not after time in bowling along freely over five furlongs. Whirling and Stormy Weather, both of whom were making a noise, clocked 54$s over half-a-mile. There was little between Flit Acre (Winder) and Sergia (Glading) at the end of six furlongs in 1.23, the initial five occupying 1.9 3-5. A Smart Round. Lucidus (Day) impressed toy hitting out boldly over a round in the good time of 2.7 1-5. He ran his first five furlongs in 1.7 3-5 and the six in 1.23 1-5. Lucidus is looking well and as he has been schooling impressively of late he must be conceded good prospects in the Hack Hurdles at Te Awamutu on Saturday. Grand Light ran home from the half-mile post in 575. Survoy finished clear of Racemosus over the deciding stages of six furlongs in 1.24. The former shaped well and should perform well in the Trial Handicap at Te Awamutu. Thers was little between Sinking Fund (McKenzie), Lion Heart (Winder) and Matoru (Ozone) at the end of six furlongs in 1.21$ —a useful effort. Tradesman CMcLaughlin) was shading King Rey (McMahon) at the end of five furlongs in 1.75. Tradesman is making steady improvement and with winter conditions to suit him he should not be long in picking up a stake or two. Blackman (Mc'Kenzie) finished clear of Gloucester (Glading) at the end of five furlongs in 1.10. Prince Acre and Little Saint recorded 1.27 for six furlongs. Over Hurdles. Prince of Orange (Cotter) and Grand Score (Smith) were associated over four hurdles, both giving a fast and clever display. Timed over six furlongs they ran the distance in 1.23 after cutting out the first two furlongs in 26$s.

i King Win (Cotter) and Summer Hill 1 (.\lcGregor) gave an indifferent display ‘over a round of hurdles the latter es~ pecially failing to Jump with any dash. Te Monatekapa (.\lcGregor) handled two hurdles in the straight in satisfactory style. An interesting schooling bout over country was given by Windsor Lad (J. Muir), Allegretto (.\lcllroy) and Diuquedoon (Cotter). Te .\lonatekapa (McGregor) was to have gone with themhut refused at the first fence, the brush at the top of the straight. At the second fence, the post and rails. Diacquedoon tell but was subsequently remounted and continued on behind Windsor Lad and Allegretto, both of whom gave a good display, especially the former who has benefited by the experience he hes gained in the huntiing field. After completing the round iDiacquedoon negotiated the brush at the top of the straight again but in coming to the post and rails he failed ito rise and threw Cotter heavily. ‘l-‘ortunutely neither horse nor rider was linjured. .
