The by-election for the Peckham division of Camberwell, necessitated by ihe succession of the sitting member, Viscount Borodale, to the title of his late father, Earl Beatty, was held today. It resulted in a narrow victory for Labour, as follows: L. Silkin (Labour) 13,007 Captain P. G. A. Harvey (Conservative) 12,907 Labour majority 100 The poll at llie last general election in November, 1935, for the Peckham division of Camberwell resulted as Viscount Borodale (Con.) .. 15,229 L. Silkin { Lab.) 14,457 Conservative majority 772
