LEAGUE’S FUTURE.
ITS POLICY DEFENDED. ISOLATION CONDEMNED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Friday. International affairs, with particureference to the present situation and the part played by llie League of Nations were dealt wilh by Mr H. Duncan Hall, a member of I lie information section of llie Secretarial of the League of Nations in an address lo llie annual meeting of llie Wellington branch of llie League of Nations Union. Mr Hall said il was his personal opinion that the policy adopted by the League up lo llie present was rigid. A country with a policy of isolation could arm lo 1 lie teeth and arms could not pro led il. They must lie prepared lo defend lldngs for which Ihey stood. A policy of isolation was one of anarchy and suicide, and Ihey had lo face Dial fad. The alternative was lo join our defence system wilh those of other countries. Il might he said such a system proved inadequate bul we should do Ihe besl possible with it. II was necessary lo gel back lo something of Ihe clearness of vision Ihe League. In llie nexl few years Ihey would have lo face n serious ami tremendous issue. II was not certain Ihey would gel through.
