SCHOOL CONCERT

FAIRFIELD FUNCTION. PRESENTATION TO TEACHER. Pupils of the Fairfield School entertained a capacity audience of parents, past pupils and visitors with a concert in the’sehool last evening. Arranged by tiie headmaster, Mr R. E. Andrew, and his staff, an excellent entertainment was presented and was greatly enjoyed. The proceeds, amounting to over £lO, will be devoted to school purposes. During the evening opportunity was taken 'by Mr Andrew to refer to the approaching departure from the school of Miss M. Moody, a member of the staff for several years, who is leaving fo be married. Mr Andrew referred to the popularity of Miss Moody among the staff and pupils and extended to her their good wishes. On 'behalf of past and present pupils. Nancy Simons made the presentation of a table cloth to Miss Moody, who briefly replied. Appreciation of the support accorded the concert 'toy parents and visitors was expressed by Mr R. R. Paterson, chairman of the school committee, who also paid tribute to staff and pupils for the excellence of their entertainment. In conclusion he reminded the children that Sunday was Mother’s Day. The programme was as follows: Part 'songs, Standards 5 and 6; piano solo. W. Norman: songs, the infants; playettes, primer 4; dialogue, “Tamtoo and Bones,” David Thomson and Arthur Clement; flugel horn solo, Colbert Jackson; musical ‘Sketch, “The Barber,” Standard 6 boys; choral recitation, “Young and Old,” Standard 6; plavette, “Dreamland,” Standards 1 and 2; musical dives, the primers; song. “Land of Nod.” Standards 1 and 2: piano solo. Wyndham Kemp; play. “King of the Golden River,” Standard 5; play, “Mi-ss Mulligan’s Girls," Standards 3 and 4; costume sketch, “Topsy,” Standard 6 girls; choral speaking, Standard 3 and 4. The accompaniments were played by Mi si A. E. Atkinson and Mr R. E. Andrew.
