MARCH RETURNS. 1935-36 FIGURES. Duiing March, 1111 building permits were issued in Ihe larger towns representing a total value of £458,072 an increase of 233 in number, but, a decrease of £59,902. or .1 1.0 per cent as compared with the value in February. This decrease is accounted for by decreases in permits issued for buildings other than dwelling houses and for alterations lo existing buildings. Permits for the erection of new dwellings totalled 255, showing a slight increase over the Fabruary tolal of 250. Building permits issued in the larger I owns during the whole of the financial year 1935-30 were valued at £4,988,358. as compared with £3,090,090 in 193 i-35—an increase of 0.1.1 per cent.
