FAREWELL EVENING.

SUCCESS AT TIRAU. MR R MARSHALL HONOURED. An enjoyable evening was spent in the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union rest room, Tirau, on Tuesday, on the occasion of a farewell function to Mr Russell Marshall, of the Post and Telegraph Department, Tirau, who is leaving the district on transfer to Urenui. The evening took the form of a social and dance, songs being contributed by Mrs J. Corcoran, Mr Ron. Andrews, and Mr Jesse Batley. The music for the dancing was contributed by Mr A. Crabb, Mr and Mrs A. Bragg and Mr Keitli Barnes. Mr A. Bragg was M.C. There were about 60 people present and dancing was carried on unfil a late hour. Mr S. J. Bear, president of the Tirau Tennis Club, presented Mr Marshall with a leather suitcase. Mr Bear remarked that Mr Marshall had always assisted at functions in Tirau where his services as a pianist were required, and for two years he had been secretary of the Tirau Tennis Club. Mr and Mrs T. Marshall, parents of the guest of honour, were also the guests of the evening. The songs and music contributed were much appreciated, and Mr S. ,T. Bear specially thanked those who had helped to make the evening such a successful one.
