RAILWAY STAFF.
PROMOTIONS AND TRANSFERS. MINISTER’S ANNOUNCEMENT. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The Hon. D. G. Sullivan, Minister of Railways, announces staff changes as follows: Mr H. Valentine, chief accountant, appointed second assistant to the general manager, Mr W. Bishop, assistant chief accountant, succeeding as chief; Mr S. C. Boyle, manager of road motor services, will in future be titled superintendent of road services; Mr F. K. Mackay, chief clerk to the general manager, has been appointed assistant to Mr Boyle; Mr R. R. Gow, of Hutt, has been appointed bus manager at Dunedin; Mr WRogers, stationmaster at Christchurch, has been appointed transport officer to the district traffic manager’s office, Christchurch, Mr W. E. McKay, of Dunedin, succeeding him as stationmaster; Mr J. Sewers has been appointed goods agent at Christchurch, and Mr C. A. Legge, of Christchurch, has been appointed stationmaster at Greymouth; Mr A. L. Smith is confirmed as chief clerk to the commercial manager. Mr R. J. A. Stirling, of Wellington, has been appointed transport officer at the district traffic manager’s office, Dunedin; and Mr F. G. Craig, of Auckland, has been appointed chief clerk in the superintendent of transportations office, Wellington; Mr C- L. Blackburn, pending a permanent appointment, replaces Mr Mackay as chief olerk to the general manager. Mr Sullivan remarks on the retirement of many senior officers in the near future and the importance of taking a reasonably long view so that there will be no lack of experienced men, well equipped, to assume the responsibilities attached to senior positions.
