MORRINBVILLE BRANCH. ‘ The ltfiorrinsvllle branch of the. \Vomen's Divislon of the Farmers‘ Union celebrated its seventh birthday; on Friday. when the Masonic Hall was ‘ beautifully decorated with bright aut- i umn flowers and foliage, c‘hrysanthe—i mums and bowls and vases of coloured ‘ blooms entered for the floral competi—tions for the month. The new presidient, Mrs ’H. Wilcox, occupied the chair, and there was a. large attendance of members, representatives of other branches, and guests, whom the romcial hostesses, Mesdarnes Slade—Gully and Hopkins, welcomed. Particularly Interesting was a record made some years ago of the accomplished Auckland trio, Misses In a BusWorth (violin), Mollie Wright (‘cello) and Mr Cyril Towsey (piano). Violin solo's by Miss Margaret Boe, of Hamilton, were greatly appreciated, Mrs J. R. Wilson being the accompanist. At afternoon tea the candles on the birthday -cake were lit by the president. The hostesses were members of the Morrinsville branch. TE AWAMUTU BRANCH. The annual meeting of the Te Awamutu branch of the Women’s Division of the Farmers’ Union w r as presided over by the president, Mrs W. A. Godfrey. The Attendance was excellent and though principally a business meeting much interest was evinced, showing that the spirit of enthusiasm and interest is to be maintained.' The president’s report was ■received with applause, and was a very comprehensive one, revealing the activities of the year’s work, which have been both practical and social. The membership continues to increase, the present financial members numbering 161. The financial position is excellent and after donating £l6 to the community chest, many donations to different sources, assistance to housekeeping department and general expenses, a, credit balance of £l6 17s lOd remains. TwentyI seven housekeepers have been supplied and most satisfactory reports 1 have been received of their capabilities. At present three housekeepers are engaged by the branch. Tributes were paid to the dressmakers employed by South Auckland Province. Library Membership Increased. The library membership has increased during the year. The librarian has been responsible for sending books to the Dominion Book Club, to Ngaroma, Pukeatua and Kawhia branches and bundles of magazines to Flock House boys. Appreciation was ex- ! pressed to the cpmmittee members of j Paterangi - library for their generosity ■in giving free access to their library books, enabling the librarian to send Iso many books to the branches. I Through the kindness of a member in donating a beautiful lampshade for competition, the proceeds were sent to the Sunshine Ward at the Waikato Hospital. The members had a stand at the Agricultural and Pastoral Show, and this year added a floral section. One of our members gained the division J prize donated in the bottled fruit section. The “Husbands” afternoon was well attended, the address being given by Mr W. F. Campbell, of Morrinsville. Other speakers during the year were Mrs S. O. English (Auckland), Mr Cruickshank (Auckland), Captain , Beck, Mrs 6 Mclntosh and Rev. .1. Mcjlntyre. ! Feeling reference was made to the ! passing of a member, the late Mrs W. G.
