NGARUAWAHIA BOROUGH.
MEETING OF COUNCIL. At the regular meeting of the Ngaruawahia Borough Council the Mayor, Mr H. J. Sampson, presided, and there were also present Councillors W. Paterson, J. S. Johnston, S. Saulbrey, A. Watts, R. Eyre and W. G. Payne, and the town clerk (Mr H. B. Fraser). Traffic Inspector. The Waikato County Council wrote requesting the appointment of Mr A. J. McGuire as traffic inspector for the Ngaruawahia Borough, in accordance with the scheme for joint oontrol of all traffic. On a proportionate basis the borough’s percentage of costs was fixed at 2J per cent. Inspector McGuire waited upon the Council to explain that he was anxious to obtain the authority of the borough to operate within its boundaries. The 'Council recognised that the scheme suggested was ; not that originally agreed upon, but resolved to agree to the appointment of Mr McGuire for a period of 12 montihs. It. was further resolved to forward as a recommendation to the Waikato County Council that the inspector should be allowed to reside at or near Ngaruawahia. Revaluation. . The Morrinsville Borough wrote seeking support of the borough in appealing against the effect of section 50 of the Valuation Act, whereby a revaluation may be granted upon application by the owner and so materially upset the estimates of a borough. —lt was resolved to support the action of the Morrinsville Borough Council and to forward a remit dealing with the question for consideration at the next conference of municipal bodies. Cricket Ground. The Cricket Club made formal application for the use of the cemetery reserve domain, which was granted. The matter of having the ground well harrowed and cleaned was left in the hands of Cr. Payne.
