ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL
REPRESENTATIVE GAME.
AUCKLAND VISIT HAMILTON. (By “Nemo.”) Auckland, the champion representative team of New Zealand, will visit 'Hamilton to-morrow to play South Auckland. By permission of the Hamilton Rugby Union the game will be played at Rugby Park. Particular interest will be attached to the meeting of these two teams, as Auckland are the holders of the Football Association trophy which bears with it the title of champion major association of t'he Dominion, and the South Auckland team, as holders 'of the Brown Shield, are champion minor association. New Zealand Representatives. Prominent in the Auckland team will be “Danny” Jones, the captain, and Innes and Christie, each of whom has represented New Zealand, while six of the remainder have represented the Auckland team before. The halfback line is composed .of three players who probably have no superiors in the Dominion, and their play should he well worth seeing. Those who have not travelled far to watch Soccer before will receive an education in wingforward play by watching Innes.. Other “star” forwards are Dunsmore and McLeay.
The South Auckland Team. The local selectors have done fairly well with the material at their disposal. An experiment is being made in the goal by trying a stranger who has yet to make a reputation. ' The remainder of the defence/have all had representative experience, and outstanding players are Latimer, Dodds and Deacon. Newcomers to the forward line are Phillips,. Ranson and Gnir. The latter two have been near representative honours for several seasons, and Phillips lias this season so rapidly forged ahead that he has earned his place. Ranson is a player of large experience, 'having represented Canterbury and Manawatu on previous occasions. s While no one would be bold enough to predict a win for South Auckland, the locals are capable of. fully extending their formidable opponents, and the game should be well worth watching. The local executive is facing an expenditure of £3O to stage this game, and are to be commended for their courage. The teams will be as follows: — Auckland (blue and white).- —Zulll; Reid, Gerrard; Morrison, Jones; Innes, Dunsmore, *%MoLeay, Wood, Ansteed. South Auckland. —Roberts (Waihl); Latimer (Pukemiro), Dodds (Huntly), captain; Gardlne, Deacon (Wanderers), Beaumont (Rotowaro) ; Black, .Bate (Pukemiro), Phillips, Ranson (Y.M.C.A.), Gair (Glen Massey), Referee, Mr Jas. Baillie; linesmen, Messrs L. Emerson and Heeney. The curtain-raiser will be between North Shore and Hamilton, and will be controlled by Mr J. Bate.
