SCHOOL BOOKS.

PROTEST AGAINST IMPORTATION. AUCKLAND, Thursday. The practice adopted by the Auckland Education Board of importing school books and requisites and supplying them direct to schools was criticised in a letter received by the board yesterday from the Associated Booksellers of New Zealand. The association stated it was gravely concerned at the growing tendency on the part of education boards, technical colleges and secondary schools to place orders for hooks outside the Dominion. The secretary said that under the present system hooks were available to schools at a much reduced price. It was decided to notify the association that the present arrangements were considered satisfactory.
