FARMER’S SUICIDE.

inquest at morrinsvjlle. ILL-HEALTH AND WORRY. The adjourned inquest touching the death of Samuel Elliott, who was found hanging from a tree, on his farm at Tatuanui, was held in the Courthouse, Morrinsville, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, coroner. Evidence was given by J. Crawford. a neighbour, that he had known the deceased for several years and had a talk with him over the phone the night before. He appeared to be worried. Mr Elliott, wife of deceased, stated that she married deceased five years ago and had one child. The farm they were on belonged to her, having been £dven to her by her father. Her husband’s age was 39. He had been in poor health for some weeks; he had a bad attack of influenza and was rur down. He had financial worries. Hr had never threatened to take his life Constable I-leeps stated that on September 25, he received a telephone cal' from Tatuanui to the effect that Elliot! had been found hanging to a tree al the back of his farm. Witness went out and found 'the body still hangiiv in an upright position, with the feetouching Hie ground. Deceased ha. been dead' for several hours. \ verdict was returned that deceased, being in bad. health and mentally depressed through financial worry hung himself on September 25.
