UNEMPLOYMENT.
SERIOUS IN AMERICA, 3,700,000 PEOPLE IDLE. POSSIBILITY OF REVOLUTION. United Press Assn.—Elec. Tel.—Copyright, (Received April 3, 11 a.m.) WASHINGTON, April 2. Mr Greene, of the American Federation of Labour, testifying before the Senate Committee, estimated that 3,700,000 workers were unemployed in February, losing £80,000,000 In wages. He declared that relief for unemployment in the first quarter of 1930 cost £200,000,000. He endorsed Senator Wagner's programme for the expenditure of £30,000,000 on a permanent Federal unemployment relief programme. Witness intimated that the country was faced with the possibility of a revolution unless the unemployment situation was met. He estimated that one worker out of every four in industry was Idle.
