ANNUAL MEETING. SUCCESS OF CO-PARTNERSHIP. ANOTHER YEAR OP PROGRESS. Gratification with the success of the co-partnership scheme put into operation bv the Waikato Times Company four years ago, was expressed by both capital and labour shareholders at the annual meeting of the company last night. The increased turnover, the more economical working of the business, the expansion of the paper’s circulation, the growth of printing and what is more, the firm spirit of loyalty shown by the staff, were some of the things attributed to this industrial experiment by the different speakers. The balance-sheet showed a satisfactory sLatc of affairs and indicated great progress made in alt departments of the business during the 11 monthly period which the document covered. The chairman’s report referred to the sound position in which the company now found itself and to the fact that the increasing demands on space and the growth of circulation made tt necessary to install additional plant. This would enable a 36-page paper to he produced and would make the Waikato Times the most completelyequipped provincial newspaper office in the Southern Hemisphere. A dividend of 7 per cent, on capital shares and 7 per cent, on labour shares was declared. Reference was made by the chairman of directors and various shareholders to the death of the late Mr. Gtorge Edgecumbc, a director of the paper and the meeting rose to mark its respect to the late genllman’s memory. The appointment of Mr. A. E. Manning as one of the delegation of 12 from this Dominion to Hie Empire Press 'Conference shortly to he held in London, was regarded by the shareholders as an honour paid not merely to Mr. Manning, but to the Waikato Times. The congratulations of all were tendered to the managing director and the hope was expressed that he and Mrs. Manning would spend an enjoyable time abroad. The staff was thanked for its loyalty by the chairman of directors and labour shareholders expressed their complete satisfaction with the working of Hie co-partnership scheme.
