All yesterday, the stranded airmen, Messrs Smitli and Shiers, with the police party, trekked towards Wyndham over a hazardous track in terrific heat from the spot where the City of Sydney was forced down. The party had to traverse 110 miles, including many detours. Owing to the roughness of the territory they travelled by truck, car and horseback and in some places on foot. They expected to arrive at Wyndham at six o’clock last night, but no word of their arrival had been received in Sydney at an early hour this morning. -
