Losses of £2,084,000 on the State railways and £348,250 on trams during the year are forcast by the treasurer, Hon B. S. B. Stevens, in a financial statement to the Assembly. Among the proposals for dealing with the problem is the recovery of a portion of the business lost to road transport.
