WASHHOUSE ON FIRE
BRIGADE’S PROMPT WORK. The Hamilton Fire Brigade was called to an outbreak about noon, today, in London Street, where a washhouse caught fire at the dwelling occupied by Air G. AlcDavitt and owned by Mr J. H. Hume. The brigade was promptly on the scene and soon had the flames under control. Fortunately the fire was subdued before it spread to the house, which is a large wooden one situated only a few feet from the burning building. - The damage was not extensive. The Fire Brigade received a call to a fire in a one-roomed “bach” on the property of Mrs A. Ellis, Thackeray Street, about seven o’clock last evening. The outbreak was very slight, only some curtains- and blankets being involved, and was extinguished by Ihe occupants before the arrival of the brigade.
