PUSHED THE CONSTABLE.

DISORDERLY BEHAVIOUR. YOUNG ALAN FINED. When Constable Brown was called to a fire at a house in Thackeray Street, .Hamilton, last night, he heard one of the boarders at the place—Alexander Hopkins, aged 29, using obscene language in the presence of women. Thfe constable reprimanded him and when the officer left the premises, Hopkins followed him and wanted to shake hands. The constable told Hopkins he desired nothing to do with him, whereupon the latter began to push the officer about. To-day, before Mr Wyvern Wilson, S.M., Hopkins pleaded guilty to disorderly behaviour. He stated he was a little under the influence of liquor at the time. He was fined the amount of his bail, £3.

An application for suppression ol his name was refused.
