RETURNED SOLDIERS.
MEETING OF EXECUTIVE. POPPY DAY ARRAN GEMENTS. A meeting of the executive of the Waikato Returned Soldiers’ Association was held last night, Mr R. F. Ward presiding. There were also present : Alessrs E. Clayton-Greene, Pile, R. D. AlcFarland, R. B. Cranwell, Clark, J. N. Baxter, 11. Blackball and 11. G. M. Norris. Mr McFarland was appointed to confer with the Borough Council Committee regarding Anzac Day, and Mr Baxter to take charge of the parade. A motion of congratulation to Mr W. 11. .Tonkins on his transfer to Auckland and regret at his departure was passed. A number of copies of the new Anzac Anthem were received. It was decided to order some more and to sell them on Poppy Day at 6d a copy.
Arrangements were reported to be in train for Poppy Day, which will be held 'this year on April 24. It was reported that Mrs Ross had kindly consented to enlist the sympathies of several ladies to sell the poppies and to organise sale.
