An indication of the serious loss of land which many Westland farmers were experiencing through river erosion was given by the chairman of the West coas't Farmers’ Union, when members were discussing the question. The chairman stated that he had lost CO acres of what was considered the best farming land in South Westland. A member remarked that “it was a whole farm.'
