SHOPLIFTER RELEASED

FQLLOWSNG HUSBAND’S DEATH. AUCKLAND, Tuesday. An inquest was opened yesterday into the death of Thomas Gannon, who received fatal injuries when lie was struck by a tramcar. After evidence of identification had been given by deceased’s son, the inquest was adjourned. The sentence of imprisonment, which was imposed on Rebecca Gannon, wife of the deceased Thomas Gannon, for shoplifting, in the Police Court on Saturday, will not now be served, the Minister of Justice, Sir Thomas Sidey, having approved her release on the application of Mr F. K. Hunt, S.M., who imposed the sentence.
