WANGANUI WOOL SALE. PRICES CONSISTENTLY LOWER. 'v (By Telegraph.—Fress Association.) WANGANUI, (MondayThe wool selling season closed here to-day. About 8000 bales were submitted to a good attendance of buyers. Bidding was keen up to a point, and well spread among the various sections of the buyers. Bradford was prominent and prob'bly secured the majority of fleece wools. Prices showed a decline on the last sale, fleece being from a halfpenny to a penny lower. (Medium seedy and shabby " woo! showed most decline. Coarse free wools possibly not more than a halfpenny decline, while lower pieces and bellies declined to about a halfpenny • to three farthings and lambs up to a penny. Extra fine, crossbred, average 7ld to 8Id; inferior, Gsd to 7£d. Fine Crossbred, average 72d to inferior, Old to 7£d. Medium crossbred, average 7d to 7-Id; inferior, Od to 7d. “Coarse Crossbred, average, 62d to 7ld; inferior, sld to 6ld. “Low crossbred, super, to 7Jd; average, Old to 7d; inferior, to 6d. Hoggets, - 48-50, 8d to Bfd; fine, 7d to 71d; medium, Ofd to 7id. Lambs, fine, Blcl to lOd; medium, 7d to 8Id; inferior and seedy, 3d to 4 Id. The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram from the High Commissioner for New Zealand, Loudon : Tallow : No auction until next week. Business doing in spot fine mutton at 6d per cwt. lower and gutty sorts afloat at 6d per cwt, higher than last quotations. Fruit : Market well supplied with apples, and demand about normal. Of “ Tainui ” shipment Alfristons in best condition, others showing more or less waste. Prices realised were Gravenstein and Worcester Pearmain, iOs to 14s per case; Alfristons, 12s to 14s per case, pears were over-ripe and sold at 4s Gd to Gs per bundle. Hemp : Manila market steady with firmer tendency. Fair business has been done. “J ” grade, March-May and April-June shipment at £29 10s. Sisal : Market quiet but steady, value fair average quality No. J, MarchMay shipment, £33 :Los; No. 2, £32 10s; good marks, 10s more. Now Zealand market very quiet, business being confined to small lots afloat at low prices, fair afloat having been sold at £27. No first hand business reported in forward shipment. Wool Sales continue with active broadening competition and prices show hardening tendency. LONDON WOOL SALES. Messrs Dalgety and Company, Ltd..:, report having received the. Y'Jlowrng cablegram from their Lotvdf' House: Wool biles.—The sales continue active with broadening competition. Yesterday 92 per cent, of the offerings were sold. America was buying New Zealand , crossbreds; French buyers more active; Germany and Home trade demand continues. Prices are in favour ol’ sellers.
