CANCELLATION OF CAMPS
(To the Editor.) Sir, —The decision of the Government to cancel military camps will he hailed with satisfaction by many people. There is no doubt that the advantages of the camps were far outweighed by the disadvantages, and there is a wider question involved—whether the holding of camps did not defeat its own object, by fostering the military spirit Which, led to war, which the spirit nf preparedness fostered by the camps was supposed to largely prevent. The caanps led to much disorganisation of business and there is a general feeling that in these difficult Dmes the money spent on them could.he used to far greater advantage in other directions. * —l a-m, etc., CIVILIAN.
