GUILTY OF EMBEZZLEMENT
DEFENCE BY “SEA LAWYER.” MAGISTRATE NOT IMPRESSED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) •PALMERSTON N„ Monday. Described as a “sea lawyer,” Arthur Caddy, aged 31, a fireman on the Raranga, put up a vigorous defence when he appeared in company with the ship’s storeman John David James Ware, aged 32, on charges of embezzling goods at Picton. The Magistrate was satisfied that the story was too thin, and sentenced each to three months’ imprisonment.
